Fintech Event in Ahmedabad: 40 Students Learn Mutual Funds & Stock Market from an Industry Expert

One city. 40 Fintech students. One expert. One unforgettable event by Karma Education.

Most students learn finance from textbooks. Very few get to hear how the industry actually thinks about money, markets and investing. At Karma Education, we want to change that.

Recently, Karma Education organized a special Fintech event in Ahmedabad, where 40 shortlisted Fintech students from all over the city got the chance to learn Mutual Funds and Stock Market concepts directly from an industry expert. This blog is a look back at the session, the learning and the pre-Diwali celebration that followed.

Why Karma Education Organized This Fintech Event

Fintech is one of the fastest-growing career fields in India, and it needs people who understand both finance and technology. But classroom theory alone is not enough to build that confidence.

That is why we created this event: to give students real exposure to the industry, in a room full of motivated learners and under the guidance of an experienced professional.

We received a huge number of applications from students across Ahmedabad. After careful shortlisting, only 40 Fintech students were selected to take part.

Meet the Speaker: Mr. Tejas Dusara, Regional Head, DSP Mutual Fund

The session was led by Mr. Tejas Dusara, Regional Head at DSP Mutual Fund. He spoke to the students about Mutual Funds and the Stock Market, and about how to think about money in a more disciplined way.

Key Learning: The Paradigm Shift in Saving and Spending

One of the most talked-about moments of the session was a simple but powerful idea on how we plan our money. Many people follow this formula:

Income – Expense = Savings

This sounds correct, but it often means savings are whatever is left at the end of the month, and many months, nothing is left. The session highlighted a shift in thinking:

Income – Savings = Expense

When you decide your savings first and spend from what remains, saving becomes a habit instead of an afterthought. This is the mindset that makes investing in Mutual Funds through regular, disciplined contributions much easier to follow.

For students who are about to start their careers, this is one of the most valuable lessons they can learn early.
